Dmitry Frolovich Taraskov (August 20, 1915, Horlivka — January 20, 1981, Cherkasy) was a participant in the Great Patriotic War, a self—propelled artillery installation mechanic of the 1817th self-propelled artillery regiment of the 52nd Army of the 2nd Ukrainian Front, a sergeant major. Hero of the Soviet Union (1944).
Dmitry Frolovich was born in the village of Gorlovka in the Russian Empire, now a city in the Donetsk region, into a family of miners. Russian. He graduated from the 7th grade, and then from the school of automotive engineering in Donetsk. He worked at the mine. Member of the CPSU since 1954. In the Red Army since 1938. Before the war, he was a senior mechanic and driver of a T-34 tank. In the Great Patriotic War since June 1941. In 1943, he became a driver of a self-propelled artillery installation, and was wounded twice. On the night of November 17, 1943, as part of the calculation, he suddenly broke into the village of Geronymovka, Cherkassy district, and inflicted a significant defeat on the enemy in manpower and equipment. On November 20, together with a landing party of machine gunners, he was among the first in the regiment to reach the Cherkassy railway station, and then the city center.
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated February 22, 1944, for exemplary performance of the command's combat mission in the fight against the Nazi invaders and for displaying courage and heroism, Sergeant Dmitry Frolovich Taraskov was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 8156).
In 1945, Taraskov was discharged from the army. In 1948, he moved to live in Sumy region. He worked as the chief mechanic of the workshop of the Krasny Metallist plant in Konotop. The company's management has repeatedly awarded him with prizes and valuable gifts for his conscientious attitude to his duties and active participation in public work. In 1960 he graduated from the Tula Mining College. In recent years, he lived in Cherkassy, where he worked at vocational school No. 20. He died on January 20, 1981 in Cherkassy.
