In the context of wartime newspapers, "bulletins" were small, promptly issued information leaflets or special issues that complemented the mainstream press. Although the term "bulletin" is not widely used, it describes the format of news releases that were produced in addition to major newspapers during the Great Patriotic War. The bulletins could contain brief but important reports on the course of the fighting in order to inform soldiers and the civilian population in conditions of limited access to the main press. They were published in addition to major newspapers, which were published in large numbers and covered various aspects of the country's life during the war. In addition to the news, the bulletins could be used to distribute propaganda materials, call for patriotism, and mobilize forces at the front and in the rear. During the Great Patriotic War, many different publications were produced, including partisan newspapers, front-line and army newspapers, as well as leaflets distributed behind enemy lines, and all of them could have their own "bulletins".
