Nugzar Platonovich Asatiani (July 16, 1937, Kutaisi, Georgian SSR, USSR — April 2, 1992, Tbilisi, Georgia) was a Soviet saber fencer, Olympic and world champion. Honored Master of Sports of the USSR (1964). He graduated from the Georgian GIFK in 1960, and from Tbilisi State University in 1968. Lawyer. Member of the CPSU since 1968. He played for Burevestnik, since 1960 — Dinamo (Tbilisi). In the late 70s — early 80s he worked as chairman of the Georgian Republican Council of the SDSO "Burevestnik". Champion of the 1964 Olympic Games in the sabre fencing team championship. Participant of the 1960 Olympic Games (eliminated in the 1/4 finals in individual and team competitions). 1965 world champion in team competitions. Silver medalist of the 1961 and 1963 World Championships in the team championship. Bronze medalist of the 1962 World Championship in the team championship. He won the 1966 European Cup as a member of the team. USSR champion in 1961 in individual competitions. Winner of the USSR Cup in 1960, 1962, 1966, 1968 in the individual championship.
