Sports society "Dynamo" is the name of several sports associations of socialist countries. Initially, the Soviet Union applied to the system, the GPU of the NKVD of the RSFSR. Honorary Chairman of the society "Dynamo" in the first years of its existence was Chairman of the GPU of the NKVD of the RSFSR Felix Dzerzhinsky (1877-1926).
In 1923 a group of employees of the headquarters of the troops of the State Political Administration (GPU) of the Moscow district, headed by P. S. Ural, fulfilling the Directive of the GPU on the improvement of physical and combat training of personnel, initiated a new departmental organization — proletarian sports society (PSO) Dynamo. The name was proposed by L. Nadola-Goncharenko, head of the political Department of the GPU and former workers of the plant "Dynamo". The society was established on 18 April 1923 in Moscow. Original title: "Moscow proletarian society "Dynamo"". The slogan — "Power in motion". Throughout the history of the company's full official name changed several times, however short — never. In June 1934 under the Central Council of PSO "Dynamo" created by a children's sports organization "Young Dynamo". Decision of the CEC of the USSR of July 22, 1937 for outstanding achievements and leadership in the athletic movement society "Dynamo" was awarded the order of Lenin.
Widely known historic confrontation of the Central sports club of the Army and the society "Dynamo", which lasted since the emergence of these organizations and to the collapse of the Soviet Union. The peak of the confrontation occurred in the 70-80-ies, when a matter of honor for the athletes of both teams was not to drop the prestige of their organization. This is the Armed Forces (CSKA) was created sport squadron — non-combatant and non-military units, where sports (physical) training held 100% combat training (not including political studies). In response, the society "Dynamo" tried to account for the higher wages, supplements to salaries, social security, a developed material and technical base to lure the most talented young athletes and experienced coaches from other sports organisations and clubs, which did not have such a strong and influential patronage ("Spartak", "Zenith", "Food", "Burevestnik" and so on). In 1986 for the equivalent of the confrontation between "Dynamo" and CSKA the rest of the sports organizations was to create a unified all-Union voluntary sports society of trade unions, which included the DSO "Spartak", "Zenith", "Thunderbird", "Labor reserves", "Vodnik", "locomotive", "Labour" and "Harvest." Annually over one billion roubles (about 1.5 billion U.S. dollars as of 1987 or 28 billion dollars as of today) from the total budget of the trade unions went on fizkulturno-improving and sports work in order that they could be at least some competition, "Dynamo" and CSKA. Costs of material and labor resources to functioning in the USSR of all three organizations was huge even by modern standards.
Still, it exists, and occasionally appearing in print and on television the phrase "the Soviet school" — remnants of its former power and rivalry of CSKA and "Dynamo". At the present time is called WOW VFSO "Dynamo" (Public-state Association "all-Russian sports society "Dynamo""). Vladimir Pronichev — Chairman WOW VFSO "Dynamo".
