Pyotr Tarasovich Maltsev (1907-1993) was a Soviet, Russian painter. People's Artist of the USSR (1974). The author of works on military-historical subjects, the creator of dioramas. Pyotr Maltsev was born on December 4 (17), 1907 (according to other sources — December 8) in Mariupol. He studied at the Zaporozhye Art School (1921-1924) with V. N. Nevsky, in VKhUTEIN (1924-1930) in Moscow with P. V. Kuznetsov, V. A. Favorsky, L. A. Bruni, N. M. Chernyshev. During the war, he served as an artist of the Department of cultural lighting of the Northern Fleet. Major of the Administrative Service. Member of the Studio of Military Artists named after M. B. Grekov since 1949. Participated in the restoration of F. A. Roubaud's panorama "The Battle of Borodino".Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. He died on October 5, 1993 in Moscow. He was buried at the Troyekurovsky cemetery.
