The poster "The United Anti-Fascist Front will win!", 1938

The poster was created on the eve of World War II, against the backdrop of the growing fascist threat in Europe, including the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). He calls for the unification of the working people of the whole world against fascism and war. The main text reads: "THE UNITED ANTI-FASCIST FRONT WILL WIN!". At the bottom there is a call: "WORKERS, WORKING WOMEN, PEASANTS AND WORKERS OF ALL COUNTRIES! EXPAND AND STRENGTHEN THE POPULAR FRONT OF THE STRUGGLE AGAINST FASCISM AND WAR!" Moscow: OGIZ-IZOGIZ, 1938. Author Boris Ivanovich Prophokov (1911-1972), Soviet painter, graphic artist and caricaturist. It is made in the style of caricature, which was typical of the works of the Prophet of that period. Size 90*60 cm Edition 100,000 copies. Damage, contamination, creases, requires restoration. Boris Ivanovich Prophokov is a painter, graphic artist, cartoonist, and poster artist. He began his artistic career as an art correspondent for Komsomolskaya Pravda. In 1931 he graduated from VKHUTEMAS-VKHUTEIN.  He worked in the magazines "Crocodile" and "Smena".  During the Second World War, he made drawings for front-line printing and leaflets that were dropped from airplanes over enemy territory. He participated in the heroic defense of the Khanko Peninsula, in the battles for Novorossiysk (on the "Little Earth"). In 1944, he was severely concussed (then suffered from headaches all his life). He was awarded the Order of the Red Star (1944) and the Red Banner of Labor, and the medal "For Military Merit" (1942). Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, corresponding member of the Academy of Arts, People's Artist of the USSR, winner of the Lenin and two Stalin Prizes of the third degree.
