A very rare example of a Russian rifled firearm in almost excellent condition. The first fittings received the ranks of L-Gv. The Jaeger battalion. A total of 12,917 fittings of this type were produced in 1798-1805. On August 18, 1806, an order was issued to supply the jaeger regiments with weapons "against Musketeer regiments in time of war." Since that time, the supply of fittings to the jaeger regiments has been discontinued, and the fittings themselves had already been completely put out of use by 1812.
The barrel is steel, 8-faceted in cross section, with a shank in the breech for attachment to the bed. The bore has 8 rifling holes. The sights consist of a brass front sight in the front of the barrel and rear sight. On the breech of the barrel is a partially worn out stamp of the acceptance of the Ministry of War in the form of an eagle in a circle, as well as an "R". The lock is flintlock, battery type, mounted on the right side. In some sources, it is called the French castle, or the French-type castle (sample) due to the fact that its inventor is considered to be the French royal artist and gunsmith Marin le Bourgeois (Marin le Bourgeoys 1550-1634) from the Norman town of Lisieux. The inventor successfully combined the positive features of the Mediterranean and Baltic castles into a single design. The keyhole is engraved with "Tula 1798" (the stamp of the Tula Arms Factory and the release date of the product). The trigger is made of steel, reinforced with a single screw. The inspector's mark "NK" (?) is pierced in the left part of the key board. The trigger has a safety catch. The trigger is almost straight in shape, made of steel. The trigger guard is brass, oval in shape. There are a number of inspection stamps on the trigger guard: "PMF" in a rectangle, etc. The inspector's stamp "SK" is punched in a rectangle on the keyhole. The bed is wooden, the forearm is the entire length of the trunk. The barrel is fixed on the bed with a screw on the shank and 2 latches in the forearm. The butt is smooth, and has a niche for accessories on the right side. The butt plate is brass, L-shaped.
the item is in good collector's condition. Scuffs and traces of use around the perimeter. Scratches and loss of varnish on wooden parts. Traces of corrosion on the steel parts.
