The gun shown on the gun is an authentic model of a weapon made in 1831-33 in The rifle was an upgraded version of the infantry rifle of the 1808 model and differed from its predecessor in the barrel, the design of the lodge and aiming devices. New Russian infantry rifles, prepared by the inspector of the armory factories, General Staden and General Bontan of the Polish service in 1826 and 1828, had barrels 9 cm shorter than the previous samples. In addition, it became more convenient to aim new guns, as a kind of rear sight and withers with a slot appeared on the breech, and the front sight was moved from the false ring to the barrel. These innovations testified to the beginning of the process of improving sighting devices. By increasing the bevel of the butt in the new weapon, it was possible to weaken the recoil effect in the shoulder of the shooter, and the soldiers who could hardly bear the recoil of the old guns were most satisfied with the latest innovation. The total length of the 1826 and 1828 rifles remained the same due to the lengthening of the bayonet. In addition to infantry rifles, in 1828 four new models were approved for cavalry armament: dragoon, cuirassier, hussar and horse-chasseur rifles. All of them had a smooth barrel and were loaded from the muzzle. Five years later, the cavalrymen received another sample — a carbine of the 1833 model. In 1844, the guns were converted to a percussion cap and continued to be used in the army until the end of the Crimean War.
The barrel is steel, round in cross section. The bore is smooth. Aiming devices consist of a semi-oval front sight and rear sight. The percussion cap lock is installed instead of the flint lock that stood there earlier. The key board is smooth. The inscription "TULA 1831" (the year of manufacture of the product and the brand of the manufacturer) is applied on the key board. On the reverse side of the lock there is a brass brace (lock plate), which also has the date 1833 and the inspector's stamp "FA" in a rectangle. The trigger is steel, smooth. The trigger is steel, slightly curved, smooth. The trigger guard is brass, rounded in shape. The date of manufacture 1832 is stamped on the bracket (twice).
The bed is wooden, the forearm is almost the entire length of the trunk. The barrel is fixed in the bed with a screw at high tide in the breech and three clips. A ramrod is embedded in the forearm. The butt plate is brass, smooth. The image of the Russian double-headed eagle under the crown and the weapon number 1176 are pierced on the back. The belt brackets are located in front of the trigger guard and in the center of the forearm.
the item is in a satisfactory collector's condition; there are traces of corrosion around the perimeter of metal parts, scuffed varnish on wood. The clips on the barrel are new-made.
