The original gun with the stamps of three St. Petersburg masters is in good collector's condition. The gun is quite short, has Damascus barrels, made, judging by the gold notching, by Franz Miller, the owner of a mechanical gun workshop in St. Petersburg (Kaznacheyskaya St., 3). Capsule locks decorated with engraving. The lockboards have a double stamp: one bears the name of Jean-Marie Landere (1822-1888), the owner of a hunting and weapons store at 5 Nevsky Prospekt, who, according to archival documents, was engaged in "correcting the rifles of the now reigning Emperor and manufacturing for Him Majesties of various hunting accessories since 1847...". In 1881, he moved the institution to Malaya Morskaya Street, 6. In 1870, Landere employed 8 people. Lavrentiev wrote in the Hunting Library: "Landere, His Majesty's gunsmith in St. Petersburg, has earned a very good and solid reputation among our serious hunters for the precision of finishing both barrels obtained from the best craftsmen in England and France, as well as precisely all the detailed work and alignment of combat." The second plaque bears the inscription "de Bertrand / S. Peterbourg", which makes it possible to identify this merchant as Bertrand Jacob Natalis, the owner of an assembly and weapons workshop in the capital, which has been operating since 1836, a court gunsmith, the inventor of a new system of shotguns and pistols. A contemporary admired his products at an exhibition in 1849: "Nothing can be imagined more elegant than Bertrand and Co. rifles. The perfection of the finish of the silent guns is amazing: they seem to be cast, rather than composed by the most distinct labor of many parts. It's a sight to behold!" Apparently, Bertrand's company ordered the manufacture of a gun from Larderet in the early stages of the latter's company (early 1850s), as a result of which both brands are adjacent to one weapon. It should be added that the French relations went beyond purely business: Jean-Marie's son later became the godfather of Bertrand's daughter. The trigger guard is steel, oval in shape. The bed is wooden, smooth, the butt is with a cheek. Guarantee of authenticity.
