An original and quite rare massive whistle in excellent condition. Fully operational. It was acquired in the family of an RIA officer along with his saber. The shape and brass ring correspond to the design of the classic signal whistles of the late 19th and early 20th centuries used by the Russian Imperial Army (RIA) and the police. In the RIA ground forces, such whistles were included in the field equipment of officers and non-commissioned officers to give commands in the rifle chain, and were also used by sentries to call the breeder. Most of the mass-produced army and service whistles of that period were made of metals (bronze, brass, nickel silver, tin). Specimens carved from wood (or bone) were less common and were often the result of individual or artisanal manufacture, or were purchased privately by officers. Identical shaped whistles were freely sold in stores in pre-revolutionary Russia. They were actively used by policemen (police), railway conductors, night watchmen and gymnasium teachers. The length is 84 mm. Guarantee of authenticity.
