"Historical description of the clothes and weapons of the Russian troops, with drawings, compiled by the highest command, with drawings" (often simply "Historical description of the clothes and weapons of the Russian troops" edited by A.V. Viskovatov, 1841-1862) is a multi—volume work compiled by order of Emperor Nicholas I, containing a detailed description and illustrations of military and civilian costume for the period from 862 to the reign of Nicholas I and published in St. Petersburg for 20 years in the period 1841-1862.
