the Sculptor. The son of a sculptor and an embosser bronze F. I. Kovshenkov. In 1835 as a foreign student attended drawing classes at the Academy of arts, from 1840 - irregular students student of the Academy of arts; was in the Studio of P. K. Klodt, helped him in the performance of monumental works. In 1852 he graduated from the Academy of arts with the title neklassnogo (free) artist.
he Lived in St. Petersburg. Worked in the field of genre sculpture, executed portraits to order and portrait statuettes military, compositions on subjects of military history. Created a series of figurines depicting historical and ethnographic types. Participated in the exhibition in the halls of IAH (1855), the international exhibition in London (1862). In 1860 "for art and knowledge in the sculptural arts” was awarded the title of academician.
Since 1863 was in the service in one of the provincial cities, in 1871, he returned to Petersburg. From 1875, he lived in Moscow, left sculpture classes. The last six years he lived in the town Hill.
Works Kovshenkova are in many Museum collections, among them - the State Tretyakov gallery, the State Hermitage Museum and others.

Klodt, assisted him in the execution of monumental works. In 1852 he graduated from the Academy with the rank neklassnogo (free) artist.

Created a series of statues depicting historical and ethnographic types. Participated in the exhibition in the halls of the Imperial Academy of arts (1855), the international exhibition in London (1862). 1863 was in the service in one of the provincial cities, in 1871 he returned to St. Petersburg. From 1875 he lived in Moscow, she gave up sculpture. The last six years lived in town Hill.
