The SNR of 1911. A total of 650 such binoculars were purchased by the SNR. A very rare example of military optics from the "tsarist" period of Russian history, very little represented on the antique market. The optics of the binoculars are in excellent condition.

History

In accordance with the resolution of the Military Council. The optical workshop of the Obukhov Plant since 1913, after reconstruction (started in 1911), was to become the main supplier of binoculars for the needs of the Main Directorate of Military Educational Institutions. However, the reconstruction was delayed and the main supplier of binoculars for graduates of military schools, starting in 1909, became the company "K.Zeiss." In 1912, in order to compete with the German company in order to lower the price, it was planned to order binoculars also from the Warsaw factory "FOS", but by that time it had closed and all the ordered number of binoculars was again manufactured by Zeiss.  For the 1913 issue, the Military Council decided to purchase the necessary number of binoculars from three foreign companies, including K.P.Hertz: from the magazine Artillery Committee. No. 60. February 12, 1913 "Regarding the conclusion of conditions by the Officer Rifle School with the firms Kraus, Hertz and Zeiss for the supply of binoculars to supply pupils during production to the first officer rank. By order of the Chairman of the Artillery Committee, with a note from the Office of the Artillery Committee dated November 19, 1912, No. 2161, the report of the Head of the Officer Rifle School dated October 29, 1912, No. 305, was handed over to the information of the Weapons Department, as follows: "I inform you that according to the instructions of the Main Directorate of Military Educational Institutions dated September 29, this year, No. 22974, The school has concluded conditions on October 6, 11 and 19 for the supply of binoculars for the supply of such pupils during their production to the first officer rank, with the following companies:

  • With Kraus for the supply of 750 6X magnification marine binoculars;

  • With the Hertz company for the supply of 650 binoculars of 6X magnification of marine and 400 binoculars of 8X magnification of field.

  • With the Zeiss company for the supply of 630 6X marine binoculars.

The opinion of the department. The Weapons Department has taken note of the report of the Head of the Officer's Rifle School on the order of binoculars to supply pupils with the first officer's rank."
