The original binoculars are in very good collector's condition. Bronze, lenses, leather. The binoculars consist of two optical tubes connected by a movable hinge that allows the observer to adjust the interpupillary distance, on the axis of which the central focusing mechanism is mounted. The eyecups are branded with the manufacturer "N. Reichel St. Petersbourg». The company dates its history back to 1827.The founder of the company, Nikolai Ivanovich Reichel (1829-1888), was a talented mechanic who came to the capital from Warsaw. He bought the workshop from his uncle K. I. Reichel and significantly expanded it. After Nikolai Ivanovich's death in 1888, all production and stores passed to his son, Alexander Nikolaevich Reichel. Under his leadership, the institution turned into a large Optical and mechanical plant "N. Reichel." The company produced a huge range of precision instruments, both for ordinary people and for the needs of the army: glasses, pince-nez, lorgnettes, magnifiers and theatrical binocular glasses, thermometers, barometers, compasses, drawing boards and precision alcohol meters.The company was the official supplier of the Main Artillery Directorate and The Maritime Ministry. The factory made sophisticated optical artillery sights (including Perepelkin-designed sights for warships). The company had a well-developed production facility and a whole network of branded stores in the very center of the city. For a long time, the company was located on Vasilyevsky Island (first on line 11 at 42, then on line 3 at 40, and later on line 8 at 85). The most famous stores are "N.
