6x30 binoculars from K. Zeiss" for graduates of military schools of RIA, 1914

An original and quite rare pair of binoculars in good collector's condition. The optics are clean, the skin is intact. The original leather strap is included. The binoculars were intended to supply graduates of infantry and cavalry military schools of the RIA in 1914 at the state expense in accordance with the order of the Military Academy of January 1, 1909. The binoculars were equipped with an artillery-type case with a device for attaching a compass to the case cover, a neck strap, a button loop, an eyepiece cover and two yellow light filters. The installation of an angle-measuring grid in such binoculars was not envisaged. Manufactured under contract with the company "K.Zeiss" dated June 4, 1914. This contract initially provided for the supply of 2,410 binoculars to be manufactured at the company's optical plant in Moscow. However, due to the limited delivery time, all the supplied binoculars were manufactured in Germany, in Jena. In addition, due to the outbreak of the First World War, the terms of the contract were disrupted and the total number of binoculars supplied was just over 2,000. The Officer's Rifle School, which is an intermediary supplier for ordering binoculars for the needs of the Main Directorate of Military Educational Institutions, paid for the company "K.Zeiss provided the binoculars, taking into account the penalty for the binoculars not delivered under the contract and the failure to meet deadlines, but the company did not agree with this decision. The proceedings continued until 1917 and ended for "K. Zeiss" to no avail.
