The history of the Kazan military school dates back to 1866, when in the framework initiated two years earlier, the military district reform in each of the created military districts were formed infantry cadet school, which trained cadres of Junior officers. In the infantry cadet schools they are accepted as graduates of the cadet corps and young people "from outside" of all classes, except for peasants, with certain educational qualifications. The training period was two years. Unlike graduates of the military academies, graduates of the cadet received the rank of officer, and ensign, and was made an officer after one to three years of service in the ranks and definitely in the presence of the officer jobs. Along with the first edition of the cadet colleges have banned the production of the officers directly from the lower ranks, since the time of Peter I former the main source of replenishment of the officer corps. However, by the early twentieth century programs of the cadet colleges were not adequately match for training officers taking into account the increased requirements to their qualification. Therefore, since the late 1890s cadet schools gradually began to reshape the military, with a more extensive program. Graduates of the military academies should be made directly to officers. By 1910 translation of all the cadet colleges in the category of war was completed. onceshe the Kazan infantry school with a staff of 200 cadets (2 companies) was established on 1 September 1866 at the headquarters of the Kazan military district.
