109th Volga infantry regiment, led his story from formed in 1797 of the 20th Jaeger regiment in 1801 was renamed in the 19th Chasseurs. The regiment took part in the Patriotic war of 1812 and Russian-Turkish war 1829-1829, and in 1863, after a series of reformations gave rise to an infantry regiment, called the Volga. Unlike most regiments of the Russian army, regiments of the 23rd infantry division, where he was a member, received the name is not in the cities and along the rivers of Russia (109-th Volga, 110th Kama, 111 th don and 112th Ural). By 1914 the regiment was stationed in Kovno (now Kaunas) was the first account in the composition of the 23rd division. As the first regiment in the division, he was assigned to the red color of edging, collars and lapels, which have found application in the finishing of all regimental items, including plates from the service of the officer meetings. A feature of this shelf is a beautiful monogram of the letters "In" and number "109". Her appearance refers, apparently, to the regimental 100th anniversary, celebrated in 1897.. perhaps it was then for the officers ' club in Dulevo factory of the Association of the heirs of M. S. Kuznetsov and was ordered a new set. Anyway, its composition has nothing to do with the figure of the regimental sign, approved in 1911. the Subject is well preserved except for a small chip near the edge; a unique monogram is not affected.
