Biography: SMIRNOV Konstantin Nikolaevich (19 may 1854, Odesa - on 9 November 1930, Pancevo, near Belgrade) - Lieutenant-General of the General staff. From hereditary noblemen of the Minsk province. Graduated from the Mikhailovskaya artillery school and Nicholas military Academy. In 1896-1898, - the head of Odessa infantry cadet schools. In 1904-1906, - the commandant of the fortress Port Arthur. After the fall of the fortress presented a report that served as the grounds for legal action against generals of Stessel, Fock and Flight. For the accusation of cowardice Fock caused K.N. Smirnova to a duel, which took place on March 18, 1908, in the courtyard of the barracks of cavalry guards regiment. K.N. Smirnov was wounded Fock in his stomach. In 1908, PHD Smirnov retired. Had the order with swords St. Stanislav 1-St degree, St. Anna 1st class and St. Vladimir of the 2nd degree. A widower. He died at the age of 76 from pneumonia. He was buried at the local cemetery, in Pancevo.
