The regiment was led from the lancers of His Imperial Highness the Tsesarevich and Grand Duke Constantine Pavlovich regiment formed in 1803 From 1809, the regiment was attached to the guard called the Life guards lancers. In 1894, chief of the regiment became Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, in connection with which he received the name "the Life-guard Lancer Her Majesty". According to tradition, the regiment recruited people of a certain appearance – an undersized (as was the case for light cavalry at all) blondes and redheads without eyebrows. From 1881 all the lower ranks were allowed to wear a beard, but traditionally this right was used not all. On the card pictured: soldier of Ulan (left), non-commissioned officers in compulsory military service (in the foreground, in uniform and overcoat), a staff-trumpeter (center) and Sergeant major (right). The chevrons on the sleeve of a staff-trumpeter indicate that he served in extended service of not less than two years. Judging by the chevrons on the sleeve of Sergeant, the experience of his long service exceeds six years; in addition, unlike its shape – a peaked cap with a visor instead of a cap. On the chest of a veteran's visible Shoe with awards, the latest of which – Romanian cross for the crossing of the Danube in 1877 At the right of the photo is made in goats Dragoon rifles with bayonets, on the left – a cavalry saddle with saddle blanket. A rare subject. The guarantee of authenticity.
