Apsit (Apsitis) Alexander Petrovich (25.03.1880 (Riga)  — 09/19/1943 (Ludwigslust (Germany)). Born in Riga, graphic artist. 1898-1899 studied at the studio of L. Dmitriev-Kavkazsky in St. Petersburg. Until the end of 1919 in St. Petersburg and Moscow. 1902-1907.  he drew illustrations for the magazines "Rodina", "Zvezda" and "Niva", for the works of Russian classics, cartoons for satirical magazines ("Spirit of the Times" and others); advertising posters. Since 1903 he has participated in exhibitions. In 1906-1917 he collaborated with Moscow publishers I. Sytin and A. Stupin. Since 1918, one of the founders and leading masters of the Soviet political revolutionary poster. At the end of 1919, during the offensive of Deninkin's Army, he left Moscow and moved to Latvia.  Drawings for Riga magazines. In 1939, just before the Sovietization of Latvia, he moved to Germany. 1943. He died in Germany in Ludwiglust. The artist signed his works: A-t, Aspid, A. Petrov, Osinin, Skif, AP.
