Nikolai Nikolaevich Kogout (published under the pseudonym Kog; (September 1 [13], 1891 — July 31, 1959) was a Soviet graphic artist, one of the founders of the heroic poster of the Civil War. From 1907 to 1913 he studied at the Stroganov Central Art and Industrial College. During the Civil War he worked in the political departments of the Red Army (1918-1920). From 1920 to 1925 he studied at VKhUTEMAS in Moscow with L. A. Bruni and D. S. Moore. From 1922 to 1928 he was a member of the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia. Since 1922, he participated in exhibitions. Collaborated with the magazines "Atheist at the machine", "You give". In 1944, he worked at the Windows of TASS.He actively worked in the Creative and production Association "Agitplakat" of the Union of Artists of the USSR. He performed political posters and satirical drawings for newspapers and magazines. The urn with the ashes is buried in the columbarium of the Don cemetery.
