Description

An original and very rare poster from the period of the Provisional Government in good collector's condition. The full title is "Vote for the C-R party. Hey, old man, what does it say here? Yes it is The Socialist Revolutionaries write how they want to dispose of the land in The Constituent Assembly". [Pg.: Edition by M. Pivovarsky, 1917]. The size is 67.8×50.9 cm. Creases, small tears, loss of fragments in the right field. In the lower right corner there is a stamp: "3" (the number of the party in the electoral list, was put later in ink, because the posters were printed in advance, before the announcement of the party lists). Guarantee of authenticity. A rarity.

History

The Party of Socialist Revolutionaries (adb. The AKP, or SR; also the Social Revolutionaries, Artia S.R.; after the February Revolution, the right Social Revolutionaries) was a revolutionary political party of the Russian Empire, later the Russian Republic, the RSFSR. The largest neo-national organization of the early 20th century. She was a member of the Second International.

The Socialist Revolutionary Party was created on the basis of pre-existing narodnik organizations and has occupied one of the leading positions since the beginning of the 20th century. It became the largest and most influential non-Marxist socialist party. Being a follower of the ideology of populism, the party became famous as one of the most active participants in the revolutionary terror carried out by the famous Fighting Organization of the Socialist Revolutionaries in 1902-1911.

The year 1917 became a triumph and at the same time a tragedy for the Socialist Revolutionaries. In a short time after the February Revolution, the party turned into the largest political force, reached the millionth milestone in terms of its size, gained a dominant position in local self-government bodies and most public organizations, and won elections to the Constituent Assembly. Its representatives held a number of key positions in the government. Her ideas of democratic socialism and peaceful transition to it were attractive to the population. However, despite all this, the Social Revolutionaries were unable to retain power, and by 1925 the party had virtually ceased to exist. In emigration, the printing organs of the Socialist Revolutionaries existed until the mid-1940s.
