Bronze, silvering, stamping. The original token is in very good collector's condition. D. Kuchkin's factory in Moscow. In the center of the obverse is the profile of an ancient Russian warrior (bogatyr) in a pointed combat helmet (shishak) and chain mail, facing to the left. The portrait is framed by laurel branches. At some foreign auctions, this image is often mistakenly confused with Alexander Nevsky because of the distinctive helmet. On the reverse, the inscription "Freedom Fighters" and the date "1917" are stamped on a smooth field against a background of crossed swords. Rare. Guarantee of authenticity.
Such commemorative tokens were mass-minted by private workshops (for example, the famous Moscow factory of Dmitry Kuchkin) immediately after the February Revolution of 1917. They were intended to be worn in buttonholes or on the chest as a sign of support for revolutionary changes and "free Russia." [
