| The original. |
The original and rare medal is in good condition. The diameter is 30 mm. White metal, stamped. In the center of the obverse of the medal is the profile of Emperor Nicholas II, facing to the right. Around the circle there is a text in the Old Slavonic language: "B. M. NICHOLAS II IMP. AND SAMOD. VSEROSS." ("By the Grace of God, Nicholas II, Emperor and Autocrat of All Russia"). On the smooth reverse is the inscription "For the salvation of the dead." The medal was awarded to people of all classes for exploits of humanity. It was given for saving people in situations where the savior himself seriously risked his life: during fires, during the rescue of drowning people, during natural disasters.
