Medal "In memory of the 100th anniversary of the Patriotic War of 1812" in 1912

The original commemorative medal of the Russian Empire, established to commemorate the centenary of the victory over Napoleon's army. The item is in good, honest collector's condition, without restorations and interventions. The medal is made of light bronze by artistic embossing, has a characteristic all-stamped rounded eyelet for fastening the ribbon. The metal surface is covered with a noble, smooth natural patina, emphasizing the solid age and authenticity of the object.

The composition of the obverse is concise and expressive. In the center there is a chest profile image of Emperor Alexander I, facing to the right. The profile is made without the imperial crown and other regalia, which symbolizes the modesty and greatness of the monarch in the era of the Patriotic War. The graphics of the portrait, the characteristic facial features and the elaboration of the hair indicate the work of one of the private workshops (factories) of pre-revolutionary Russia, which produced awards according to the state model.

On the reverse (reverse side) of the medal is the famous commemorative inscription in seven lines, borrowed from the ancient order of Alexander I: "1812 / THIS GLORIOUS YEAR / HAS PASSED, BUT THE DEEDS DONE IN IT / 1912 WILL NOT PASS." All letters and numbers of the inscription have retained a clear relief and excellent readability.

A historically significant, classic copy of the late Empire era, which will be a worthy addition to the collection of Russian imperial phaleristics dedicated to the main military triumphs of the 19th century.
