The medal "For the Turkish War" is a state award of the Russian Empire. It was established in connection with the end of the Russian-Turkish War (1828-1829). It was established by decree of Nicholas I on October 1 (13), 1829. The medal was awarded to all those who took part in military operations against Turkey from 1828 to 1829. All generals, officers, lower ranks, both combat and non-combat, as well as militia members were awarded. From December 10 (22), 1830, sailors who participated in the battles began to be awarded. According to a special imperial decree, this award could be presented until September 1, 1832. In total, approximately 100,000 medals were minted at the St. Petersburg Mint. Other embossing options are also known, differing in a number of small details, as well as in diameter. There was a medal of a reduced size: from 20 to 22 mm in diameter, intended for cavalrymen.
