The medal "In Honor of the Honored Soldier" is a medal of the Russian Empire, which was awarded to retired soldiers who continued their service in 1806-1807 and served for at least 6 years.
The medal "In honor of the Honored Soldier" was established by Alexander I according to the regulations of October 31, 1806 and by the decree "On the invitation of retired lower military ranks to serve", sent to the Minister of Internal Affairs V. P. Kochubey, dated February 5, 1807. In the same decrees, the medal "For Zeal for Service" was established. The purpose of the establishment of these awards was to encourage soldiers who were called up for service for the second time, due to the great need of the empire for recruits during the Napoleonic Wars after the defeats of the Allied forces at Austerlitz.
According to the decree[, soldiers who retired and re-enlisted in the army in 1806-1807 and then served for at least six years or more were awarded. It is known that by 1810, about 70 conscripted servicemen had served for three years and remained for another three years of service. The sample of the medal was approved by the emperor with great delay, only in 1817. Awards were issued in 1817-1825. There were no more than 30 awards in total. In addition to the medal, the awardees received the rank of non-commissioned officer, if they did not have one, as well as a full soldier's salary for the duration of the pension.
