The original medal is in good collector's condition. Bronze, stamping. The diameter is 28 mm. The obverse of the award depicts the relief monogram of Emperor Nicholas II, which is an ornate letter "H", under which is the letter "I". A large Imperial crown is depicted above the monogram. On the reverse there is a circular inscription along the edge: "FOR THE CAMPAIGN TO CHINA". The inscription "1900-1901" is located horizontally in the center. The lower part of the reverse shows a rifle with a bayonet crossed with a saber and a vertically positioned anchor. Guarantee of authenticity.
The medal "For the Campaign to China" is a medal of the Russian Empire for awarding the military who participated in the suppression of the Yihetuan uprising in China (also known as the Boxer Rebellion), as well as for awarding medical personnel, officials and priests in the service, the ranks of the security service of the KVZhD and YUMZHD, volunteers. It was established on May 6, 1901 by decree of Emperor Nicholas II. The decree was given to the Minister of War A. N. Kuropatkin. The medal had two main variants made of different metals: silver or bronze. Medals made of different metals were awarded to different categories of awardees. The silver version was intended to award all persons directly involved in the fighting. Participants in the defense of Harbin and Blagoveshchensk, participants in the capture of Taku, Tien-Jin, Beijing and participants in other episodes of the suppression of the uprising were awarded. In addition to regular military personnel, volunteers, railway guards, as well as priests, doctors and officials who served in military units were awarded. The light bronze version of the medal was relied on by all military personnel who did not take direct part in the battles, but who were serving in the active armies in China, as well as in areas where martial law was declared. Similarly, with the silver version of the medal, in addition to the military, officials, volunteers, priests, doctors were awarded, if these persons were on duty with the troops, medical institutions, etc.
