A very rare medal in a good collector's condition. Light bronze, stamping. Medal on the original ribbon. The diameter is 28 mm. On the obverse, in the entire field of the medal, under the imperial crown with a fluttering ribbon, the ornate monogram of Alexander II is depicted. On the back, in the middle of the field, the years of military operations of the Russian troops in In the Kokand Khanate: "1875-1876"; at the edge, along the side of the medal, there is a circular inscription: "FOR THE CONQUEST of the KHANATE OF KOKANSKAGO"; and at the very bottom, between the beginning and the end of the inscription, there is a small five-pointed star. On February 19, 1876, a decree was promulgated on the liquidation of the Kokand Khanate and on the incorporation of its territory into the Russian Empire as the Fergana Region of the Turkestan Territory. This Central Asian event was marked by the second award medal, which was established on November 26, 1876. It was made of light bronze (with a diameter of 28 mm) and was issued on the same ribbon — St. George-Vladimir, as for the Khiva campaign. The medal was awarded to all military units, up to non-combat units, of the Turkestan Region, including volunteers who took part in the conquest of the Kokand Khanate from August 5, 1875 to September 15, 1876. The same medal was also awarded to civil officials of various departments, as well as priests, medical workers, local horsemen who were with the troops.
