The original medal is in good collector's condition. Diameter 50 mm, weight 58.3 gr. Silver, stamping. St. Petersburg Mint. Medallists: on the front side – T. I. Ivanov, on the back side – I.-G. Vechter. Very rare. The inscription on the reverse side of the medal: "And YOU WILL LIVE" is a quote from the Slavic Bible (The Gospel of John) made in Russian letters. In the synodal translation into Russian: "I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you; a little more, and the world will no longer see Me; but you will see Me, for I live, and you will live; on that Day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in To me, and I am in you" (Jn 14: 18-20). Guarantee of authenticity.
The medal "For the Foundling Home" is an award of the Russian Empire, established by Catherine II in 1763 in honor of the opening of the Imperial Foundling Home. Gold medals were awarded to persons who assisted in the construction of an educational home. Silver medals were awarded to service personnel.
