Description

A rare group of awards in good collector's condition. It belonged to a German serviceman from Oldenburg— a participant in the Civil War in Russia and In the Baltic States as part of the volunteer formations of the Western Volunteer Army of P. R. Bermont-Avalov. The pad includes:

    • Iron Cross of the 2nd class of the 1914 model.

    • The Cross of Frederick Augustus, 2nd class, with a bar "In front of the enemy." The cross was established on September 24, 1914, by the Grand Duke of Oldenburg, Frederick Augustus II, to award "all military or civilian persons who have demonstrated outstanding services during the war."

    • The ribbon of the Baltic Cross.

    • Medal of the German Legion of Honor, with a buckle. It was established in 1921. The award was issued by the Council of the German veteran organization "Order The Legion of Honor." Veterans of the 1st World War (1914-1918), as well as all patriotic citizens (including women) of Germany who joined the "Order" were awarded. The Legion of Honor."

    • The ribbon of the Bermont-Avalov cross.

    • Medal of the Iron Division. The medal was established by Major Bischoff in 1920 to reward veterans of the Iron Division. The obverse of the medal depicts the division's emblem — a skull and crossbones, on the reverse — the coat of arms of the Livonian knights — a "Varangian" heraldic shield with a straight Latin cross. The medal mounted on the shoe is a perfectly executed replica, put in place of the lost original.

    • Commemorative medal of the Courland Union of Displaced Soldiers. In 1920, the Union of Soldiers' Settlers "Courland" (Soldaten- Siedlungs Verband "Kurland") was established. The Union united various veteran organizations of volunteer formations that participated in the fighting in the Baltic States in 1918/1919. For example, the Union of former Servicemen of the Iron Division (Verein ehemaliger Angehoriger der Eisernen Division). By order of the commander of the Western Volunteer Army, Major General P.M.Bermont-Avalov (as indicated in the award documents), the Union awarded former German volunteers a commemorative medal (Soldaten-Siedlungs Medaille) on a ribbon of black and white colors. The sketch of the medal was developed by the company "Oertel, Berlin. She also released the first edition of the medal. The copies of this company are made of bronze with gilding. The reverse has the stamp "OERTEL BERLIN".

    • A medal commemorating his participation in the battles in Courland. Bronze, gilding, moire. The diameter is 33.2 mm. The security is excellent. According to P. V. Pashkov, this medal was established by P. R. Bermondt (Prince Avalov) "in memory of participation in the battles in Courland for all ranks, both Russians and Germans, who were in the ranks of the Western Volunteer Army ..." in the fall of 1919.

Separately, the group includes:

    • Baltic Cross of the Western Volunteer Army of General P. R. Bermondt (Prince Avalov). White metal, bronze, gilding. The Baltic Cross (Baltenkreuz) or the Baltic Iron Cross (das Eiserne Kreuz der Balten) was worn by all German volunteers who participated in the battles in The Baltic States in 1918-1919 . The cross with lilies on the ends is borrowed from the coat of arms of the Supreme Master of the Teutonic Order, whose history was inextricably linked with the history of the Baltic States and the "East German Germans" who colonized it. The Baltic Cross had one degree and could be worn both on a pin (the presented copy) and on a blue and white ribbon in the colors of the Baltic Landeswehr.

    • The Cross of General Count Bermont-Avalov for the ranks of the Western Volunteer Army. Bronze, silvering, enamel. The size is 47*47 mm. Safety is satisfactory. The award completely repeated the "General Keller's Cross", changing the white color to black as a sign of mourning for the executed General Keller.

Miniatures of awards:

    • Iron Cross, 2nd Class, 1914.

    • Cross of Frederick Augustus, 2nd class.

    • The cross of a World War I veteran, the so-called "Hindenburg", with swords.

    • The Baltic Cross.
