Description

Light bronze, stamping. The diameter of 28 mm. On the front side shows the monograms of emperors Nicholas I and Alexander II. Every monogram is a large Imperial crown, and above them — the radiant all-seeing eye. Below the monogram, in a semicircle, along the rim of the coin, the years of the Crimean war: "1853-1854-1855-1856.". On the reverse side of the horizontal inscription of five lines, the quote from the hymnal: IN THEE o LORD by POVAHA, let me NOT be ASHAMED FOREVER. The Psalter, kathisma 4, Psalm 30, line 2 contains this inscription: "In Thee, o Lord, opovo, but not postierla for ever: in Thy righteousness deliver me and izmi me.". In the king James translation of this line is given thus: "In Thee, o Lord, have I hoped, let me not be ashamed for ever; in Thy righteousness deliver me" (PS. 30:2). The guarantee of authenticity.

History

Medal "In memory of war 1853-1856" were awarded to a wide range of people, as fought in the Crimean war and stationed in the rear. The pattern of the medal was approved on March 30, 1856. The medal was formally established on 26 August 1856 Alexander II in a special manifest "About the most Gracious talent to the people of mercies on the occasion of the Coronation of His Imperial Majesty". The medal had two options: light bronze and dark bronze, in addition, there was gradation according to the type of ribbon to wear. The rules governing the granting of medals, as well as provisions on the rights to receive medals, many times expanded and supplemented. The submissions for the award could be submitted until August 26, 1859. Medals of bright bronze were awarded, mainly, the military or the direct participants of military events. Minted for only about 1 700 000 medals in light and dark bronze, including 430 000 at the Ekaterinburg mint. The main circulation is made at the Saint-Petersburg mint.
