An extremely rare cockade in good collector's condition. Copper alloy, silver plating, stamping. Size 46*92 mm. On December 4, 1812, A.I. Gorchakov reported that the emperor "deigned to give badges to both officers and lower ranks with the inscription "For Bravery" to the 20th Chasseur regiment, which distinguished itself during the present war with courage and bravery. Attached to the letter was a drawing of these plates, which had the shape of an ancient Greek light shield. The highest order of May 30, 1814, read: "To the Hussar regiments: Sumy, Grodno, Lubensky and Chuguevsky lancers for the distinction shown in all battles, and especially on October 2, 813 at Leipzig <...> complain <...> signs mounted on shakos with the inscription for distinction ...". Even soldiers' cockades of this type are extremely rare, let alone officers ... a guarantee of authenticity.
