The turn of the XVIII and XIX centuries became for the Russian army of the era of reforms in all spheres – from tactics to uniforms. Already in 1802 the whole Russian army had uniforms evening dress -- cut, quite consistent with the contemporary European fashion. In addition, the new form was more practical and cheaper than the old long coats Pavlovsky time. Gone are the elaborate hairstyles and made of elk skin pants and cloth boots that required a lot of time for fit and care. However, hats in the early years of the nineteenth century has not fundamentally changed: the Rangers and Musketeers still wore triangular hats, although a slightly different style and finish than ever before.
As for the ranks of the Grenadier battalions Grenadier and musketeer regiments and fuziling battalions of Grenadier regiments, in the same 1802 was introduced new models and fuziling Grenadier caps, which existed in the mass, before 1805 – 1807 the designs of these hats fundamental changes have undergone: Grenadier caps were still going on a frame of wicker or whalebone, Tuilerie – had cylindrical with a rounded top crown made of leather, covered with colored cloth. Inspection, to which the regiments belonged on a territorial basis, radicalise between the color of the backs of the hats, the shelves in the same inspection – color band. Visually the main difference between the Grenadier and fusilero hats were the height of these hats: if Grenadier cap even with the 1760s, had a height of 6.5 – 7 inches (29 – 31.5 cm), the height fusileros not exceed 5 ¾ inches (approx. 26 cm).
And Grenadier, and Tuilerie caps still had a metal nalobnik, but its appearance has changed dramatically. Gone are the distinction of regiments by the color of the metal of the device – now in all the infantry their hats were made of yellow brass. On the nalobnik was vyshtampovyvajut "almost full-size, engraved the image of the two-headed Russian eagle with St. George on breast," i.e., the state emblem of the Russian Empire of the sample of 1802 Over the crowned heads of the eagle was placed a ribbon with the motto "WITH US GOD" crowned with the Imperial crown; the ends of the tape were zamesheny in their beaks heads of an eagle and ended with small braids. Another feature of the state emblem sample 1802 is drawing the equestrian figure of St. George's shield, holding a spear with two hands a turnover from right to left. Is this the type of caps after the battle of Friedland June 2, 1807, was left fuzeleri battalion of the Pavlovsk Grenadier regiment as a collective award, and on their at the bottom was engraved the names of the soldiers who wore these hats in battle. The first time the natural decline of their regiment was compensated for by deliveries from inventories Commissariat Department. From about 1812 reserves fuzeleri (lower height) of their over, then all units of the regiment began to arrive Grenadier nalobnik. When were exhausted and their supplies (estimated to 1814), the their were made from scratch on the old sizes. However, the distinguishing feature of their later harvested is different than was installed in 1802, drawing the equestrian figure of St. George in the shield of the coat of arms. The difference lies in the pose of the figure, as she holds a spear, and strikes the serpent, and also in the portrayal of his cloak. There are three known varieties of this shape: 1808, 1817 and 1878 It to the last two types are the vast majority of their preserved in national museums and collections (among them the famous and items with engraved names is made in the XIX century to replace the worn-out "personalized" hats). The their original type, with the arms of the specimen 1802, are extremely rare. Distinctive features such nalobnik, in addition to poses of the horse shape – carefully stamped the small details of the image and the presence of the shield vertical hatching denoting the red color. To this type belongs the nalobnik, extant in excellent preservation.
