Brass, silvering, stamping. Extremely rare cockade with edging on the edges in a good collector's condition. Traces of repair of the lower part (soldering). In 1882, simultaneously with the introduction of the new uniform, all ranks of the Separate Corps of gendarmes, as well as gendarmerie teams and divisions, were assigned a new ceremonial headdress – a sheepskin cap of the dragoon model, the so-called "boyarka". It was a cloth cap in the form of a truncated cone, on the sides of which there were fur flaps, in front and behind forming two cutouts. The dragoon cap was distinguished from the dragoon cap by the color of the cloth (darkblue) and the reinforcement. In the front cutout, instead of the state emblem, a figured shield was attached, its shape resembling the shields of gendarmerie leather helmets used in the 1810s – 1860s.In the field of the shield, the state emblem (a double-headed eagle) was depicted, and a cockade was attached to its upper part. In the lower ranks, the shield was all – stamped nickel-silver, in the officers-silver-plated, with an overlay coat of arms. Such fittings were assigned exclusively to the gendarmes. In 1907, it went out of use together with the lamb hats. Since the number of officers of the Corps at the beginning of the twentieth century did not exceed one and a half thousand people, this subject is extremely rare. Guarantee of authenticity.
