The Department of institutions of Empress Maria (also a fourth branch of His Imperial Majesty's Own Chancellery, Mariinsky Department, Vuim) — office management charity The Russian Empire. It traces its history back to the office of the Empress Maria Feodorovna, the wife of Paul I, who, on May 2, 1797, took over the Moscow and St. Petersburg educational homes with all their institutions. After the death of Maria Feodorovna in 1828, it became part of Its Own office as the fourth department.
