An extremely rare and interesting lot made entirely of 800-proof silver. Apparently, the sculpture was cast to order already in the XX century, because the original sculptures cast at the factory of K.F. Werfel were made of bronze. Model E. A.Lancere 1872, sculptor E. Naps. Weight 4327 gr. Height 275 mm.
Eugene (Eugene-Johan) (II half of the XIX-early XX centuries) is a self-taught sculptor, restorer, draughtsman and painter. From a family of Baltic Germans. He worked in St. Petersburg. He was engaged in the restoration of porcelain, fine plastics and bronze sculptures for antiquaries and collectors. All known works of Napsa testify to his professional mastery of bronze casting art. There is a version that Evgeny Lancer worked under the pseudonym "Naps". Napsa 's works were cast at the bronze factory of Werfel , a competitor of F. 's workshop . Chopin, who had concluded a bonded contract with Lancere for the long term (as it turned out later - almost for the whole life of the sculptor), could not work under his own name with other bronze foundries Lancere.
