Uniform of a veterinarian RIA

Military veterinarians in the Russian army and navy wore almost the same uniforms as doctors, with a silver metal device, but made of cloth not dark green, but dark blue. The veterinarians of the Army department sewed red edging along the side, collar, cuffs and back pocket flaps of the uniform. The distinction of the veterinarians, who were in the ranks of grades VIII – VI according to the Table of Ranks, was a silver braid with a zigzag, sewn along the lower edge of the collar and along the upper edge of the cuffs. Buttons with the state coat of arms (double-headed eagle) were used by veterinarians serving in the troops and institutions of the Guards Corps until 1904, and in August 1904 they were awarded to all veterinary ranks. The shape of the cuffs and back pocket flaps allows the item to be attributed to the period before 1911, however, judging by the long skirt and low collar, it was made in the last years of the 19th century. The size is small, 44-46. The photo shows the veterinarian's epaulettes, but the uniform is sold without them. If desired, the epaulettes can be purchased separately. Traces of repair of the lining with inserts of green cloth. Guarantee of authenticity. It's rare.
