An extremely rare Russian officer's cuirass in very good collector's condition. In 1846, new cuirass designs based on Prussian prototypes were adopted for all Russian cuirassier regiments. In the Guards cuirassier regiments and in the regiments of the army 1st Cuirassier Division, cuirasses were made of steel and lined with a thin brass sheet on the outside. The edges of the cuirass were lined with a red cord. The waist belt and shoulder straps (epaulettes) were made of red leather, brass plates in the form of scales were attached to the epaulettes. Our epaulettes are selected from a similar soldier's kirsa, original. The cuirass was lined with canvas on cotton wool. Officers' cuirasses had the same design as those of the lower ranks, but the brass parts were gilded. Since 1846, such cuirasses began to replace the previous ones, painted in black. In 1860, the army cuirassier regiments were disbanded, while the Guards cuirasses of the 1846 model were used until 1917. The preservation is satisfactory, there are several sealed holes on the chest. Guarantee of authenticity.
