Description

The original military St. George medal "For bravery" of a rare non-secondary design. The item is in very good, honest collector's condition, without traces of rough cleaning, soldering or other late interventions. The medal is made by high-quality stamping, covered with an even layer of beautiful natural patina, emphasizing the considerable age and authenticity of the artifact. There are noble traces of use and micro-scratches on the metal surface, which do not violate the overall aesthetics of the sign.

The composition of the reverse is a concise and strict field, in the center of which there is a clear relief inscription in large serif type in two lines: "FOR BRAVERY." In the lower part of the disc, under the inscription, there is an elegant decorative element in the form of two stylized arrows (moustaches) pointing in different directions, separated in the center by a small rosette (asterisk). The entire perimeter of the medal is bordered by a neat protruding rim. The main design feature of this copy is the complete absence of the usual coinage of the award degree and serial number, which is typical for the products of private workshops (the so-called "private owners"), which produced duplicates of awards ordered by military personnel in conditions of a shortage of precious metals in 1916-1917, as well as for issues of the Provisional Government period.

On the top of the disc there is an all-stamped round eyelet for attachment to the award pad with a St. George ribbon. The hole of the eyelet is smooth, without deformations, the metal around it has retained its original thickness. The study of the letters and decorative pattern is deep, the relief of the details is high and not worn out, which indicates minimal wearing of the award.

A wonderful entourage with a pronounced historical character, which will serve as an excellent addition to the collection of Russian faleristics of the early 20th century and awards from the period of the First World War.

Material: White metal (base metal alloy, nickel silver or alpaca), natural patina.
Technology: Coinage (stamp).
Manufacturer: Dmitry Lazarevich Kuchkin Factory, located at: Moscow (Moscow Province), Meshchanskaya Sloboda, 2nd Lavrsky Lane, 1914-1917.
