Stereoscopic photos were very popular in the 1900s entertainment for the wealthy residents of St. Petersburg. The method of their production since then and to date has not undergone fundamental changes. The simultaneously done with two cameras with synchronized escapement, set horizontally at a distance from each other called basis of a stereo pair. Then the resulting two negatives were printed photographic prints, nucleobases on cardboard Mat, also horizontally at a certain distance from each other. Passepartout pasted photos viewed with a special device, the stereoscope, arranged so that each eye of the viewer saw only one picture left or right. As the pictures were not identical, when viewed through the properties of the human brain there was a stereo effect that allows you to see depth in the picture. In this case, stereofoto shows the Emperor Nicholas II receiving the parade of the Guard in one of the suburbs of St. Petersburg (presumably in Gatchina or in Peterhof). The Emperor wears the uniform of one of the infantry regiments of the Guard to his right – the ranks of the Retinue of His Majesty (in white hats) and His Own Velichestva Convoy (in Circassian and hats). To the left of the king – who had just finished the passage of a solemn March of the guards cavalry. In our practice, such stereofoto with the image of the Emperor on parade is found for the first time. Size 90*180 mm. Recommended!
