In the old Russian army chief of staff existed only from the level of division or separate brigade; at the level of individual military units all staff work in the peace time (in particular, record keeping and correspondence internal and external) was administered by specially appointed officers of the regimental adjutant, who is accountable Manager (military officer) and the regimental clerks. Responsibility was muzykantskaya regimental command. In fact, the adjutant in the regiment possessed considerable power, it largely depended on the internal order of service and compliance with regulations and statutes, and though the adjutant had the rank of Lieutenant or captain (and sometimes second Lieutenant), with his opinion of himself was considered by the unit commander. The hallmark of adjutant was silver aiguillette (no matter what was the color of the instrument metal parts) and spurs, as in the ranks he was supposed to be at the top; the rest of his uniform and insignia were the same as the other officers. Not to be confused with the adjutant regimental staff or personal – the latter, together with the aiguillette was worn by so-called obsedati the uniform of a completely different color than in the infantry or the cavalry.
Shown in the photo the officer is wearing winter uniform: dark green double-breasted tunic arr. 1907 with epaulettes, belted officer's scarf, dark green "very dark shade" trousers, high boots, and holding a dark green cap, prior to the introduction in 1913 of the former only the main hat headgear army officers. Chief officer, without fringe, epaulettes indicate the rank not higher than captain. Most likely, the photo Lieutenant or the staff captain (second Lieutenant could hardly have as many awards, but on the field epaulette visible star, which the captain did not rely). The officer participated in the Russo-Japanese war of 1904-1905, as evidenced by block with the order of St. Anne 3rd CL. with swords and bow, the order of St. Stanislaus 3 tbsp. with swords and bow and the medal in memory of the war of 1904-1905, also with a bow. Medal with bow complained to the Japanese participants of the campaign who had wounds or contusions. At Ephesus checkers can clearly see the lanyard from Ann red-and-yellow tape, indicating that the presence of the order of St. Anne 4th class with the inscription "For bravery". The picture was taken not earlier than 1908, when the officers were to have new uniforms, and no later than 1910, as Ephesus checkers still old (up to 1909) of the sample, without any ornament and the Imperial monogram. The definition of shelf, unfortunately, impossible, as the encryption is unreadable, and the sign on the chest it is impossible to determine because of the perspective; however, even without knowledge of regimental affiliation member photo Russo-Japanese war, with Annenskii weapons, the two battle honors and medals with a bow for the wounded is very rare. The back Mat has been preserved dedicatory inscription heartfelt greeting to a friend with a New, 1912 and signed "Vagharshak" that may be the key to determining the identity of the officer. The size of the substrate 123*207 mm. original Guaranteed.
