The original photo is in excellent condition. The photo shows Count Valerian Valerianovich Muravyov-Amursky, Count (April 6 (18), 1861 — August 23, 1922, Nice) — Major General of the General Staff, military agent in Paris. Cabinet photo by Elena Mrozovskaya (St. Petersburg). An autograph to "A soldier of France from his senior Russian classmate" (fr.). Count Muravyov-Amursky was an honest and principled officer. For which he paid in the era of the strongest politics, which aimed to draw Russia into a murderous war against Germany. Count A. A. Ignatiev reports in his memoirs "Fifty years in the Ranks" (Vol. I. M.: Goslitizdat, 1955. p. 496) "... the Russian military agent Muravyov appeared in full dress uniform to the new Minister of War, General Andre, a protege of the Dreyfusars, and stated that the repression against the anti—Dreyfusars that had already begun in the army could to influence the friendly relations of the Russian Tsarist army towards France. Muravyov's conversation with General Andre was short, but the denouement was even shorter: at the request of his own ambassador, Prince Urusov, Muravyov was forced to leave his post forever that evening and ruin his official career." Origin: from the legacy of Colonel L-Guard. V. V. Svechin's Preobrazhensky Regiment (1871-1944). Guarantee of authenticity.
