Description

The original photo is in excellent collector's condition. Gaspra. On the original passepartout. The size is 17.3*12 cm (photo), 25.8*20.6 cm (passepartout). In good condition, there is an uneven cut in the right field of the photo. On the back of the passepartout are the owner's notes in pencil. Guarantee of authenticity.

History

Count Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy (August 28 [September 9] 1828, Yasnaya Polyana, Tula Province, Russian Empire — November 7 [20] 1910, Astapovo station, Ryazan Province, Russian Empire) was one of the most famous Russian writers and thinkers, one of the world's greatest novelists. Participant in the defense of Sevastopol. An educator, publicist, religious thinker, his authoritative opinion caused the emergence of a new religious and moral trend - Tolstoyism. He was excommunicated from the Russian Orthodox Church for his views. Corresponding member of the Imperial Academy of Sciences (1873), Honorary academician in the category of fine literature (1900). He was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature. (1902, 1903, 1904, 1905). Subsequently, he declined further nominations. A classic of world literature.

A writer who was recognized as the head of Russian literature during his lifetime. Leo Tolstoy's work marked a new stage in Russian and world realism, acting as a bridge between the classic novel of the 19th century and the literature of the 20th century. Leo Tolstoy had a strong influence on the evolution of European humanism, as well as on the development of realistic traditions in world literature. Leo Tolstoy's works have been filmed and staged many times; his plays have been staged on stages all over the world[7]. Leo Tolstoy was the most published writer in the USSR in the years 1918-1986: the total circulation of 3199 editions amounted to 436.261 million copies.

Tolstoy's most famous works are the novels "War and Peace", "Anna Karenina", "Resurrection"; the autobiographical trilogy "Childhood", "Adolescence", "Youth"; the novellas "Cossacks", "Death of Ivan Ilyich", "Kreutzer Sonata", "Father Sergius", "Hadji-Murat"; a series of essays "Sevastopol stories"; dramas "The Living Corpse", "Fruits of Enlightenment" and "The Power of Darkness"; autobiographical religious and philosophical works "Confession" and "What is my faith?", anti-war works "The Kingdom of God is within you", "Come to your senses!", "The Law violence and the law of love", etc.
