In 1863, the crew numbers on epaulettes and shoulder straps were abolished for naval officers. This was due to the large number of reorganizations of naval crews after the Crimean War, so as not to introduce officers into unnecessary expenses for the production of new ciphers. The only exceptions were those who served in crews under the patronage of the highest personages or had military and court titles, which were entitled to the appropriate monograms. In this form, the shoulder straps of naval officers remained until the general reform of naval uniforms in the era of the Provisional Government. It should be noted the exceptional safety of the presented shoulder straps, apparently they have never been worn. A thin layer of gilding on the braid suggests a military issue of 1914-1917, but we cannot speak with certainty about this. Guarantee of authenticity.
