During the general cavalry reform of 1882, all army lancers and Hussar regiments were reorganized into dragoons. In addition, the numbering of the army cavalry regiments was completely changed. When the new double–breasted uniforms were introduced in 1897, the applied colors of the regiments were unified depending on their place in the cavalry division: the first regiment was red, the second was light blue, the third was white (the fourth regiment in each division was Cossack). The epaulettes and shoulder straps were encrypted according to the regiment number, the officers had it in the color opposite to the color of the metal device. The 20th Dragoon regiment of Olviopolis (before 1882 and after 1907 – the 7th Ulan), in the form of the 1897 model, relied on a light blue applied color and a gold metal device. The presented epaulettes fully comply with the statutory model, however, a number of points related to their safety and design features suggest that we are facing a modern reconstruction using original parts (rollers and fringes). In connection with this, epaulettes are sold on an "as is" basis.
