Description

In the first months and years of the red army of the Soviet award system was in its infancy. The order "Red Banner" of the RSFSR was established only on September 16, 1918, his counterparts in other Soviet republics appeared even later. To the same order, the memories of the Civil war, gave "heroes of heroes". Until the early 1930s, was awarded about 16 thousand orders "Red Banner"; considering that the strength of the red army by 1920 amounted to 5.5 million people, it becomes clear that awarded only at the time the order is very sparingly. Meanwhile, the Red Army, very active in leading the fighting, in desperate need of awards. Output was the widespread use as awards of various kinds of gifts such as weapons, horses, and uniforms and equipment. The latter played a very important role in the economic devastation that occurred to 1919, when the fighters and commanders often need the most essential items of equipment. One of these awards and become a premium trousers from a fabric of red (scarlet) color. Unfortunately, their existence known only from eyewitnesses, including members of the Civil war. Any documents to regulate the awarding of red trousers, has so far not been identified. There is a theory that the original award used dark red (maroon) trousers, has before 1914 the army hussar regiments, but it also has no documentary evidence. Anyway, by the early 1920s, the concept of "red revolutionary wide trousers" has become a stable archetype, or, as they say, meme, perfectly clear to contemporaries. Red commanders in those trousers appeared in several films of the 1920s and 30s a New wave of their popularity was greatly supported by the emergence of the film "Officers", released in 1971, which also featured this award.

Harem pants made, according to our assumption, for the theater or a movie about 1920-30s. this is indicated by their casual, very reminiscent of pre-revolutionary (design fly, slits on legs, not two, but three buttons, type of pockets). Leg fit is very similar fashionable in the early 1910s, type "Bricis". Cloth lining and canvas also different from the post-war. Trim, soutache and stropki are of later origin. This type of copy in our time are rather rare and represent great value as a symbol of the era.
