In 1922, the Browning model of the 1910 model was further developed. John Moses Browning and the engineers of the Fabrique Nationale company, commissioned by the Yugoslav military, carried out work on its modernization, as a result of which, in particular, the barrel length and magazine capacity were increased (by 2 cartridges).
The improved model of the pistol, called the Browning M1922, like the model of the 1910 model that preceded it, became very popular, and was widely distributed in Europe before the end of World War II as a military and police weapon, and as a weapon for self-defense. During the Second World War, after the occupation of Belgium by the German army, the production of this model was not stopped: the pistols produced are distinguished by the presence of German military acceptance stamps and worse quality of parts processing than in the pre-war version. The pistol was used to arm Wehrmacht officers, SS troops and police as a limited standard weapon.
Modified for the cartridge .The 380ACP M1910 and M1922 have been imported into the United States since 1951 under the name "Browning pistol 308" (Browning 380 pistol), and after 1971 a slightly enlarged handle was installed on them and both pistols received adjustable sighting devices (due to the requirements of the 1968 law on the import of weapons into the United States). How popular the M1910 and M1922 pistols were is also evidenced by the fact that their production was discontinued only in 1983.
