Belgian military binoculars 6x40 OIP AB type 2

The original and quite rare binoculars are in good condition. Manufactured by OIP (Optique et Instruments de Précision), Ghent. The factory was founded in 1919 and specialized in army optics. The AB marking means belonging to the Belgian army — "Armée Belge" (in French) or "Belgisch Leger" (in Flemish). Magnification of 6x. It belongs to the Galilean type (without using Porro or Roof wrapping prisms). The binoculars have a massive solid-cast metal body covered with black leather (leather with fragmentary losses). The focus setting is individual for each eye (separate). There is an inventory number on the upper hinge. The original trunk is included. Guarantee of authenticity.

This model is an almost exact constructive analogue of the famous German captured / service binoculars of the First World War Fernglas 08 (produced by Emil Busch, Zeiss, etc.). Belgium copied and adapted this solid scheme for the needs of its troops immediately after the end of the First World War. It was with these binoculars that the Belgian Army of occupation on the Rhine (Armée Belge d'occupation) was supplied, which was located in the demilitarized zone of Germany from 1918 to 1929.
