Sigmaringen (German Sigmaringen, alem. German. Semmerenga) is a city in Germany, the district center, located in the state of Baden-Württemberg. It is subordinated to the administrative district of Tubingen. It is part of the Sigmaringen district. The population is 16,252 (as of December 31, 2010). Until 1849, it was the capital of the principality of Hohenzollern—Sigmaringen, ruled by the Catholic branch of the Hohenzollerns (since 1866 — the ruling dynasty in Romania). The attraction is the picturesque ancestral castle of the Sigmaringen dynasty.
